Defining what sustainable growth is and how I’ll get us there.

Sustainable growth starts with preserving history while protecting future tax payers. Being proactive, not reactive.

First, complete communities need all generations. We have great schools and young families, but we're missing a key piece: the ability for our seniors to age in the community they helped build. A priority for me will be to work with council and administration to attract and approve a retirement community. This isn't just a social good; its economic sustainability, keeping families connected and housing stock turning over.

Second, to ensure this growth pays for itself, we must be strategic at the council level. That means championing:

  • Robust Off-Site Levies and Development Agreements: It’s councils job to use these tools to protect taxpayers from future burdens when the county takes over

  • Clear, Phased Area Structure Plans (ASPs): We need ASPs that sequence growth logically. Not just a quick project developers can tick boxes on.

By getting our local plans and funding mechanisms right, we give ourselves the credibility to go to the province with a united front to advocate for highway improvements. It’s about leading with solutions.
