Recreation and Community Amenities

The County's role in recreation is to be a strategic partner and a responsible steward for generations to come.

My approach to this has three parts:

  • First, Deliver on Our Promises. I will be the councillor who ensures every earmarked dollar for Langdon is spent on Langdon effectively to get these projects finished on time. Residents are tired of seeing plans gather dust.

  • Second, Learn from Failure to Future-Proof. We have a park that was ruined when the county took over management. My role will be to ensure we learn these lessons and bake them into our agreements with developers from day one. We need clear, enforceable standards for design, construction, and handover to prevent these costly mistakes from ever happening again, anywhere in Rocky View.

  • Finally, Balance Investment Wisely. While roads and pipes are the skeleton of our community, amenities like parks and halls are its heart. We must fund core infrastructure, but we cannot neglect the recreational spaces that make people want to live, work, and raise a family here. It's not an either/or choice, but a question of smart sequencing and long-term planning.
