Agriculture Challenges in Rocky View County

Based on the recent strategic plans adopted by Rocky View County, the top two challenges facing farmers and ranchers are land use pressure and fragmentation, and the need for supporting infrastructure and rural services.

What are these pressures? Development interests that break up large tracts of land into smaller less viable parcels.

The new Municipal Development Plan and Agricultural Master Plan are designed to address this without heavy handed regulation by providing On-farm housing options without the need for subdividing, and directing growth to Growth Hamlets like Langdon, as well as employment areas.

The Agriculture Master Plan specifically aims to address infrastructure and support services challenges by addressing the small roads vs big equipment issues and creating and utilizing different workshops and programs to support farmers.

My campaign is founded around preserving Identity and we need to work with the Agriculture Master Plan and Municipal Development Plan to drive that and preserve our history
